Republican Governors Mark June With Family-Focused Observances

(Worthy News) – Several Republican governors are marking June with observances centered on traditional family values, offering a contrast to the month’s broader association with LGBT Pride celebrations.

Indiana Gov. Mike Braun declared June “Nuclear Family Month,” emphasizing the importance of strong family structures across generations.

“As a father of four and grandfather of seven, I have seen firsthand the impact that loving, committed families can have across multiple generations,” Braun said in his announcement. The proclamation did not mention Pride Month or frame the observance as a direct response to it.

Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee also signed legislation in April designating June as Nuclear Family Month.

Meanwhile, Utah Gov. Spencer Cox declared June “Fidelity Month,” joining Arkansas in recognizing the observance. Utah had previously recognized Pride Month, though Cox said last year he was using June to reflect “on the values that bring us together.”

Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders also highlighted the theme, writing on X, “June is Fidelity Month: fidelity to family, fidelity to country, fidelity to God.”

The declarations reflect a growing effort among some conservative leaders to use June as a time to affirm marriage, faith, family, and civic commitment.
