(Worthy News) – Iran threatened on Monday to target Israel’s undisclosed nuclear sites if its own nuclear infrastructure is attacked, according to the state-run Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA). The warning marks a significant escalation amid faltering negotiations with the United States over Tehran’s controversial nuclear program.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), designated a terrorist organization by the U.S., claimed it has obtained detailed intelligence on Israel’s classified nuclear infrastructure. In a statement, the IRGC said it is now prepared to “immediately counter” any Israeli strike by launching retaliatory attacks on “secret” nuclear sites in the Jewish State.
“Access to this information and the completion of the operational cycle have enabled the warriors of Islam to immediately counter any potential attack by the Zionist regime,” the IRGC stated, alleging it now possesses a “vast quantity of strategic and sensitive information.”
Iranian Intelligence Minister Esmail Khatib echoed those claims, describing the data as a “treasure trove” of intelligence related to Israel’s nuclear capabilities. However, no evidence has been presented publicly to substantiate those assertions.
The threats arrive as nuclear talks between Washington and Tehran, mediated by Oman, appear to have reached an impasse. Iran recently dismissed a proposal from U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff as “unacceptable.” Tehran’s Foreign Ministry confirmed it would submit a counter-proposal in the coming days.
President Donald Trump, who had previously expressed cautious optimism about the negotiations, struck a more guarded tone this week. “They are tough negotiators,” he said Monday, adding that he urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to avoid any actions that might derail the fragile diplomatic track.
Meanwhile, the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, raised alarms over Iran’s nuclear activity. In an interview published by the Jerusalem Post and broadcast on i24NEWS, Grossi revealed that traces of uranium were detected at Iranian sites where no nuclear material should be present.
Grossi also warned that a military strike by Israel could backfire, potentially driving Iran to abandon the Non-Proliferation Treaty altogether and openly pursue a nuclear weapon. “A strike could have an amalgamating effect, solidifying Iran’s determination,” he said. “I’m telling you this because they have told me so directly.”
Despite Iran’s aggressive rhetoric, Grossi expressed doubt that Israel would launch an immediate strike. “The Iranian nuclear program runs wide and deep,” he said. “Disrupting it would require overwhelming and devastating force.”
As the rhetoric intensifies and talks hang in the balance, the region teeters on the edge of yet another potential flashpoint with global implications. The next round of U.S.-Iran negotiations is scheduled to take place in Oman this week.
