U.S. Strikes Iranian-Backed Militia Groups in Syria

by Emmitt Barry, Worthy News Correspondent

(Worthy News) – The U.S. Military launched strikes on nine targets at two locations in Syria, targeting Iranian-backed militia groups in response to several attacks on U.S. personnel over the past 24 hours, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Monday.

The strikes are intended to impair the capabilities of Iranian-backed groups to plan and execute future attacks against U.S. and Coalition forces, who are in the region conducting operations against ISIS, CENTCOM stated.

Gen. Michael Erik Kurilla, CENTCOM commander, stated, “Our message is clear. Attacks against U.S. and coalition partners in the region will not be tolerated. We will continue to take every step necessary to protect our personnel and coalition partners and respond to reckless attacks.”

Meanwhile as tensions between Israel and Iran escalate, U.S. bombers from Minot Air Force Base’s 5th Bomb Wing were deployed to the Middle East on Nov. 3 to support Israel, CENTCOM reported last week.
