Trump Issues Stark Warning to Iran as ‘Project Freedom’ Faces Fiery Test in Strait of Hormuz

(Worthy News) – Tensions in the Middle East surged Monday as Donald Trump warned that Iran would be “blown off the face of the Earth” if U.S. vessels are attacked in the Strait of Hormuz, underscoring the high stakes surrounding America’s newly launched maritime operation, “Project Freedom.”

Speaking in an interview with Fox News, Trump emphasized America’s overwhelming military capability and readiness to respond decisively to any aggression. “We have more weapons and ammunition at a much higher grade than we had before,” he said, pointing to a global network of U.S. bases stocked and prepared for rapid deployment.

The warning came as hostilities escalated across the region. Iran launched missiles and drones toward the United Arab Emirates, while U.S. forces intercepted multiple threats and destroyed several Iranian fast-attack boats. Brad Cooper, head of United States Central Command (CENTCOM), confirmed that U.S. forces sank six Iranian vessels and successfully defended maritime traffic.

At the center of the unfolding crisis is the strategic Strait of Hormuz, a narrow waterway through which roughly 20% of the world’s oil supply flows. Iran has increasingly attempted to restrict access, harassing vessels and imposing pressure in response to ongoing U.S. and Israeli military actions targeting its nuclear and military infrastructure.

Under Project Freedom, the United States is now guiding commercial ships through the strait, aiming to break Iran’s grip on the critical shipping lane. While the operation does not yet involve full naval escorts, it includes active monitoring, mine avoidance coordination, and rapid-response measures against Iranian interference.

Early Monday, two U.S.-flagged ships successfully transited the strait under American protection, though conflicting claims quickly emerged. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) alleged it had struck a U.S. naval vessel near the port of Jask—claims swiftly denied by U.S. officials, who labeled them false.

Meanwhile, a reported attack on a South Korean cargo ship heightened international concern. Trump responded by urging allies, particularly South Korea, to join the mission to secure global shipping routes. “Perhaps it’s time for South Korea to come and join the mission,” he wrote, signaling a push for broader coalition support.

The situation has placed a fragile ceasefire, established earlier this year, under significant strain. Iranian officials have warned that any vessel violating their declared maritime policies will face “serious risks,” while U.S. forces remain under orders to retaliate against threats.

Beyond the battlefield, the economic ripple effects are already being felt. Oil prices have surged, pushing U.S. gasoline prices to an average of $4.46 per gallon, up sharply since the conflict began. Global markets have also shown signs of instability as investors weigh the possibility of prolonged disruption.

Despite mounting political pressure at home and abroad, Trump has remained firm, insisting that the temporary economic pain is necessary to achieve a long-term objective: preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

The administration’s strategy appears clear—apply maximum military and economic pressure while accelerating efforts to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Yet analysts warn that Iran retains enough naval, missile, and drone capabilities to provoke further escalation, potentially unraveling the ceasefire entirely.
