(Worthy News) – Hezbollah, the Iranian backed terrorist organization fired over 100 rockets at northern Israel, escalating the conflict along the Lebanese border on Tuesday. In response, Israel conducted airstrikes targeting Hezbollah’s positions throughout Lebanon. In the wake of these attacks, Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has called for “War, Now!”
Hezbollah claimed responsibility for firing over 100 Katyusha rockets at two Israeli military bases in the Golan Heights, marking one of the largest barrages since the conflict began. The Tuesday attacks, following a similar barrage the previous Sunday, indicate a tactical shift by Hezbollah from anti-tank guided missiles to unguided rockets in recent weeks, according to analysts.
Ben-Gvir targeted Israeli Defense Minister Gallant with criticism, stating, “Gallant, the military is your responsibility. What are you waiting for?” He further escalated his call to action, saying, “Over 100 rockets launched at the State of Israel, and you sit quietly? We have to start responding, attacking – war, now!”
Late Monday and again on Tuesday morning, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) conducted two rounds of airstrikes targeting multiple Hezbollah sites in Lebanon, with fighter jets striking deep into Lebanese territory.
On Tuesday, the IDF disclosed that it had launched approximately 4,500 strikes against Hezbollah targets in Lebanon and Syria since the conflict began.
However, the majority of these attacks have occurred within the last three weeks as Israel has tripled its strikes on Hezbollah targets in comparison to the total conducted in the initial four months of the conflict.
In these strikes, the IDF has eliminated more than 300 Hezbollah fighters and injured over 750, targeting primarily the organization’s weapons and military assets, including almost all of its border lookout posts. The IDF has destroyed 150 lookout posts, surpassing the initial number along the border, which suggests that its strikes have extended deeper into Lebanon.
Additionally, the IDF reported the destruction of about 50 platforms for enhanced rocket systems and approximately 70 sub-command centers.
The IDF has announced its intention to establish a safe and secure buffer zone along the Lebanon border to safeguard residents from the threat of terrorism posed by Hezbollah.
Since October 2023, Israel has evacuated approximately 60,000 residents from the northern border towns, who have been displaced from their homes.
