Israel Issues Declaration Opposing International Efforts to Unilaterally Establish A Palestinian State

(Worthy News) – Israel’s cabinet unanimously rejected any attempts by Western countries to unilaterally recognize a Palestinian State on Sunday, saying such a move would reward unprecedented terrorism and prevent any future peace agreement.

Last week, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his coalition members sharply criticized reports of the unilateral creation of a Palestinian State by Western powers, with a minister from the Likud party suggesting that Israel should threaten to annul the Oslo Accords, which established the Palestinian Authority, in retaliation.

“Israel outright rejects international dictates regarding a final status agreement with the Palestinians. The agreement, in so far as it will be reached, will be solely through direct negotiations between the parties, without preconditions,” the Israeli cabinet said in a statement.

“Israel will continue to oppose the unilateral recognition of a Palestinian state. Such recognition in the wake of the October 7th massacre would give a huge reward to unprecedented terrorism and prevent any future peace agreement,” the statement continued.

After the cabinet meeting, Minster Benny Gantz (National Unity) said that the “pathway to peace is not through one-sided recognition of a Palestinian state.” But rather “through facilitating a long-term process that will consolidate a regional architecture facing the Iranian axis of terror and by advancing international arrangements that will improve the life of people through the region and promote stability and peace.”

“When we say ‘Together we’ll win’ — we mean also together with our American partners — Republicans and Democrats alike,” Gantz stated. “This victory goes hand in hand with our will to expand the circle of peace and form a united regional axis facing Iran. For that reason, the normalization process with Saudi Arabia is an important endeavor we must pursue — and I am personally working towards it.”

Minister Gideon Sa’ar of National Unity suggested a U.S. plan for establishing a definitive timetable for the formation of a Palestinian state to the 1938 Munich Agreement’s “sacrifice of Czechoslovakia,” highlighting it as an analogy to Europe’s unsuccessful attempt to placate the Nazis to prevent war.

“The claims that a Palestinian state will bring us security is the greatest absurdity of all,” concluded Sa’ar.

During the Munich Security Conference earlier in the day, Prime Minister Mohammed Shtayyeh of the Palestinian Authority expressed that Western nations must unilaterally acknowledge a Palestinian State and back its application for membership in the United Nations.
