(Worthy News) – While still fighting a full-scale war against Hamas in Gaza, Israel’s Defense Forces (IDF) have dramatically intensified preparations to defend the Jewish state against an anticipated “broad military conflict” with Hezbollah in Lebanon, Ynet News reports. Both Hamas and Hezbollah are Shia Islamic jihadist terror organizations supported by Iran which, like them, is sworn to the destruction of Israel.
Israel has been fending off drone and missile attacks from Hezbollah since Oct. 7, when Hamas carried out its genocidal massacre against Israeli civilians: Hezbollah has said its attacks are in support of the Palestinians.
Now, the IDF is anticipating a “swarm” of Hezbollah precision missiles headed toward northern Israeli towns in an uptick in fighting the Lebanese terrorists, Ynet reports.
Accordingly, Ynet said, Israel’s Air Defense Command has established a new Iron Dome battalion to strike down incoming missiles and has increased dedicated recruitment to aerial defense in recent military induction cycles. Moreover, the IDF is bringing back old retired Vulcano rockets to help manage Hezbollah’s low-flying and slow drones.
“We understand that Hezbollah will try to strike our air defense sites in a broad military conflict, to clear the way for attacks on Israel. Therefore, we’re preparing accordingly to protect our air defense systems with various means and methods,” the IDF said in a statement. “We are prepared and our soldiers trained for such an event and have alternative defensive sites to operate from should any be struck. ”
