Escorted by guided missile destroyers and equipped with F-35 Fighter jets, the USS Lincoln arrived in the Middle East on Wednesday (August 21), CBS News reports. The USS Lincoln joins other US ships in the region, including the USS Theodore Roosevelt aircraft carrier, which arrived in July.
US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin has also ordered the USS Georgia, a guided missile submarine, to be deployed to the Middle East, CBS News said. The USS Georgia is expected to arrive in the region in the coming days.
In a statement Tuesday, Pentagon Press Secretary Maj. Gen.
