“Life-Threatening” Major Hurricane Helene is Headed for Florida, Gulf Coast, “Time Is Running Out to Prepare”

(Worthy News) – Hurricane Helene, a major storm with “life-threatening impacts,” is expected to make a quick landfall in the United States on Thursday, September 26, Accu Weather reports. The hurricane is moving over the Gulf of Mexico, rapidly gaining strength.

Residents in the Florida Panhandle, Big Bend region and the central and eastern Gulf coast have been told to prepare for hazardous conditions and “extreme risk” posed by Helene.

“Time is running out to prepare for Helene’s arrival,” Accu Weather warned on Wednesday morning. “This will be “a large storm with life-threatening impacts” hundreds of miles away from where it makes landfall.”

“What is soon to be a major hurricane is approaching the Gulf of Mexico,” AccuWeather said. “AccuWeather meteorologists warn that communities along the central and eastern Gulf coast have less than couple of days to prepare for the fast-brewing, quick-moving Helene’s arrival, which can potentially bring life-threatening storm surge and flooding rainfall, as well as destructive winds.”

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has declared a state of emergency in preparation for Helene. “Officials have expanded mandatory evacuation orders for the barrier islands and some low-lying coastal areas from the Florida Big Bend to near Tampa. Hurricane and tropical storm watches and warnings have been issued for much of the Florida Gulf Coast,” Accu Weather said.
