Israeli Defense Minister Expands War Goals To Include Safe Return Northern Residents

by Emmitt Barry, Worthy News Correspondent

(Worthy News) – Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, in a meeting with Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi and other defense officials, announced his intention to “expand the goals of the war” to include the safe return of residents who had evacuated from the north back to their homes.

“The task on the northern front is still ahead of us, and it is the safe return of the residents [of the North]. In order to meet this goal, we must expand the goals of the war,” Gallant stated.

“I will bring the issue before the prime minister and the government cabinet,” Gallant concluded.

In a statement posted on X on Thursday, Gallant also outlined the IDF’s preparedness plan for the start of the school year on September 1 in Israel’s southern and northern settlements.

Gallant detailed that the plan includes adding “protective measures” to schools in the north and south, increasing the presence of forces, and maintaining regular dialogue with the heads of councils and directors of educational institutions.

Following Gallant’s announcement, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) quickly responded with a statement, affirming that such a goal “goes without saying.”

“Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has already stated this many times in recent months,” the PMO stated.

Currently an estimated 60,000 Israelis from northern Israel have been displaced their homes amid Hezbollah’s daily attacks.
