(Worthy News) – Israel is committed to preventing Hezbollah from rebuilding in Lebanon and has stated that the Israel Defense Forces will remain in place until Hezbollah is fully dismantled, according to Brig.-Gen. Amir Avivi, founder and chairman of HaBithonistim.
Brig.-Gen. Amir Avivi emphasized that Israel is relying solely on itself to prevent Hezbollah from rebuilding in Lebanon, stating, “Israel is not counting on anybody; Israel is counting on Israel.”
Speaking to ILTV, he explained that while efforts such as deploying the Lebanese army or dismantling Hezbollah positions would be welcomed, they are considered a bonus rather than a necessity.
Since the start of the 60-day ceasefire, Israel has eliminated over 40 Hezbollah terrorists attempting to regroup, and Avivi made it clear that this approach will persist across all of Lebanon, not just the south, according to Avivi.
Avivi underscored that Hezbollah will encounter consequences wherever it attempts to regroup. “Anywhere Hezbollah will try to rebuild itself, they will meet the Israeli army, and there will be retaliation,” he stated.
Although the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah seems to be continuing, Israel has not pledged to withdraw its troops from Lebanon until Lebanon fulfills its commitments under the deal. Avivi emphasized that the timeline is secondary to ensuring the agreement’s full implementation.
“If the Lebanese army doesn’t fully deploy, if they don’t dismantle Hezbollah in south Lebanon, and if they don’t push Hezbollah out of south Lebanon, the IDF will remain in its positions to protect the citizens of Israel,” Avivi stated.
“I think we learned that lesson from the seventh of October. We’re not going to agree to timetables. We want to see results on the ground. And this is the responsibility of the state of Lebanon. This is the responsibility of the Lebanese army to do what was agreed upon—to dismantle Hezbollah, push it out of south Lebanon, and fully deploy the Lebanese army in a way that will create stability and security in Lebanon.”
