Israel Strikes Iranian Navy in Caspian Sea, Expands “Operation Roaring Lion”

(Worthy News) – Israel dramatically expanded its military campaign against Iran, striking Iranian Navy targets in the Caspian Sea for the first time since the launch of “Operation Roaring Lion,” the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed Thursday.

According to the IDF, the Israeli Air Force carried out coordinated strikes late Wednesday night, targeting a major Iranian naval port in northern Iran. The attack marks a significant geographic expansion of Israel’s operations, reaching deep into previously untouched regions.

The military reported that dozens of Iranian vessels were destroyed in the assault. Among the most significant losses were four missile ships equipped with advanced air defense systems and anti-submarine weaponry, along with a corvette-class warship—key assets in Iran’s naval capabilities.

In addition to the ships, Israeli forces struck critical infrastructure at the port, including a central command center for the Iranian Navy and facilities used to repair and maintain military vessels.

“Striking this infrastructure deepens the damage to the regime’s capabilities and undermines the Iranian Navy’s control over the maritime space in the Caspian Sea,” the IDF stated.

A senior Israeli Navy officer underscored the long-term impact of the operation, saying, “We have deprived them of capability for years to come.”

The naval strike comes alongside a broader wave of Israeli attacks across Iran. Earlier Wednesday, the IDF confirmed it had struck more than 200 regime targets in central and western Iran, including missile launch sites, UAV infrastructure, air defense systems, and weapons production facilities.

Israel also expanded its focus on Iran’s internal security apparatus, targeting positions linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Basij paramilitary force. The IDF reported eliminating a Basij soldier guarding a base in western Iran, following earlier strikes this week against more than 10 Basij positions across Tehran.

“The Israeli Air Force continues to strike with the aim of reducing, to the fullest extent possible, the scope of fire toward the State of Israel and expanding its aerial superiority in Iran,” the military said.

The unprecedented strike on the Caspian Sea signals a new phase in the conflict—one that not only targets Iran’s missile and drone capabilities but now extends to crippling its naval power and strategic depth.

Prophetic Perspective

In light of the expanding strikes described in the conflict, Jeremiah 49:35–39 reads with striking clarity: the Lord declared, “I will break the bow of Elam, the foremost of their might,” pointing to a dismantling of military strength at its very core. What we are witnessing—targets hit across land, air, and now even naval power in the Caspian—mirrors that imagery of strength being systematically broken. The prophecy continues, “I will destroy the king and the princes,” speaking to the shaking and removal of ruling powers and entrenched authority structures. Yet this is not the end of the story. God anchors the prophecy with hope: “In the latter days I will restore the fortunes of Elam.” Even as Iran’s military capabilities and leadership structures are being weakened, Scripture points to a future restoration — not merely political, but spiritual. The breaking of the bow is not final judgment, but preparation. What is being shaken today may ultimately give way to a redeemed people, as God’s redemptive purposes unfold in Persia in the latter days.
