Israel Launches Numerous Raids in Syria to Enhance Golan Security

by Emmitt Barry, Worthy News Correspondent

(Worthy News) – The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Monday that Brigade 474 of Division 210 executed multiple brief incursions beyond Israel’s buffer zone into southern Syria, capturing weapons and military gear left by the old Syrian army. The army also released footage from a recent operation showcasing the seized armaments.

Lt.-Col. “H.” stated that the IDF found weapons in a nearby house and in separate operations, seized or destroyed missiles, improvised explosives, armored personnel carriers, and tanks, as part of its ongoing efforts to locate and neutralize threats.

The IDF emphasized that its ongoing operations within and around the buffer zone in Syria significantly enhance the overall security of Israel. These activities are particularly crucial for bolstering the safety of residents in the Golan region, providing them with increased protection against potential threats.

The IDF announcement followed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s demand on Sunday for the demilitarization of southern Syria, where he rejected the presence of Ha’yat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and other forces linked to the new regime. This came as Netanyahu reignited a public campaign focusing on Israeli-Syrian border security, possibly influencing the timing of the announcement.

Netanyahu declared, “We will not allow forces of the HTS or the new Syrian army to enter the territory south of Damascus. We demand full demilitarization of southern Syria, in the provinces of Quneitra, Daraa, and Sweida. And we will not tolerate any threat to the Druze sect in southern Syria.”
