Israel Eliminates Hezbollah, IRGC Quds Force Operative in Beirut Strike

by Emmitt Barry, Worthy News Correspondent

(Worthy News) – In a joint statement, the IDF, Shin Bet, and Mossad confirmed an overnight airstrike in Beirut killed a Hezbollah and Iranian IRGC Quds Force operative who coordinated with Hamas to carry out an imminent attack on Israeli civilians. This marks Israel’s second strike in Beirut in four days.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said Monday that the Israeli Air Force, aided by Shin Bet intelligence, struck a target in Dahiyeh, Hezbollah’s stronghold in southern Beirut.

Hassan Ali Mahmoud Bdeir, a member of Hezbollah’s Unit 3900 and Iran’s Quds Force, was killed in the strike, the IDF said. He had directed Hamas terrorists and helped plan an imminent attack on Israeli civilians.

“The strike targeted a Hezbollah terrorist who had recently directed Hamas operatives and assisted them in planning a significant and imminent terror attack against Israeli civilians. Due to the immediate threat the terrorist posed, the IDF and ISA acted to eliminate him and removed the threat,” the IDF said in a statement.

The Israeli statement accused Hezbollah of repeatedly violating the ceasefire with Lebanon, adding that the IDF, Shin Bet, and Mossad “will continue to operate to thwart any threat posed to Israeli civilians in Israeli territory and outside of it.”

After the past Friday morning’s airstrikes in Beirut—launched in response to rockets fired at northern Israel—Hezbollah chief Naim Qassem warned Saturday that if Israeli strikes continue and the Lebanese government remains inactive, Hezbollah will respond directly. It remains unclear whether the group will retaliate for the assassination of Bdeir.
