Israel and Hezbollah Exchange Fire Amid Simchat Torah Celebrations

by Emmitt Barry, Worthy News Correspondent

(Worthy News) – Israel targeted 17 locations in the southern suburbs of Beirut, demolishing several Hezbollah-linked sites, including the vacated offices of a Hezbollah-affiliated broadcaster. The strikes followed a rocket barrage launched by Hezbollah into central Israel as the Jewish nation marked the final day of the Feast of Tabernacles, also known as Simchat Torah.

On Wednesday morning, two long-range rockets were launched from Lebanon toward Israel, both successfully intercepted by air defenses. While no injuries were reported, the attack triggered sirens in Tel Aviv, nearby towns, and the Nazareth area in the north. Police reported that shrapnel from an intercepted rocket damaged a car in Herzliya.

The IDF reported that by 11:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Hezbollah had fired approximately 135 projectiles into Israeli territory.

Hezbollah claimed responsibility for the attack, calling the rocket fire “a response to the attacks and massacres committed by the Zionist enemy.”

The Lebanese National News Agency (NNA) reported at least 17 Israeli airstrikes, marking one of the most intense nights of attacks on the area in the past month.

The strikes followed evacuation warnings posted on the social media platform X by Avichay Adraee, the Israel Defense Forces’ Arabic-language spokesman.

Adraee shared a map of the targeted areas on X, cautioning civilians: “Hezbollah’s activity forces the IDF to act in the area you are in.”

“The IDF does not want to harm you. You must immediately move away from the area marked in red and head north to the Awali River. Anyone who is near Hezbollah personnel, facilities, and weapons of Hezbollah is putting their life in danger!” Adraee wrote.

Earlier Wednesday, Israel conducted airstrikes in the ancient coastal city of Tyre, resulting in “massive destruction and serious damage to homes, infrastructure, buildings, shops, and cars,” according to the NNA. The IDF stated that the strikes targeted “command and control complexes of various Hezbollah units,” as shared by Adraee on social media.

Adraee described Tyre as an “important” Hezbollah stronghold, though the Amal movement, an ally of the Iran-backed terrorist organization, is believed to have greater influence in the area.

The military also reported that approximately 70 Hezbollah operatives were killed in airstrikes and ground operations in southern Lebanon between Tuesday and Wednesday. It added that troops also discovered and destroyed tunnels and weapon caches during the operations.
