Iran, Hezbollah Launch Passover Barrage as Israelis Take Shelter Nationwide

(Worthy News) – Sirens echoed across central and northern Israel Wednesday evening as families gathered for Passover, when Iran unleashed a major ballistic missile barrage and Hezbollah fired rockets from Lebanon, forcing millions into bomb shelters during one of Judaism’s most sacred nights.

The Israel Defense Forces said roughly 10 ballistic missiles were launched toward central Israel in one of the largest Iranian salvos in recent weeks, followed by additional waves throughout the night. Sirens also sounded near Haifa, the Galilee, and the Golan Heights as Hezbollah joined the assault from Lebanon.

Most incoming threats were intercepted, though some missiles were allowed to strike open areas in accordance with defense protocols.

One missile carrying a cluster warhead scattered bomblets over central Israel, causing damage in cities including Bnei Brak, Rosh Haayin, and Petah Tikva. According to Magen David Adom, several civilians were lightly injured, including a 12-year-old and two infants, primarily from shattered glass. An 11-year-old girl wounded in a separate strike earlier remained in critical condition.

Despite the attacks, Israelis continued Passover observances—many holding Seder meals in shelters and protected spaces, reflecting both resilience and vigilance amid ongoing war.

The military had warned ahead of the holiday that Iran and its proxies could attempt strikes timed to disrupt the celebration. “Defense is not hermetic,” an IDF spokesperson cautioned, urging citizens to follow safety directives.

Meanwhile, Israel continued its offensive operations, striking approximately 15 Iranian weapons production facilities in Tehran overnight. The IDF reported that more than 400 targets have been hit in Iran over the past two days, using over 650 munitions, as part of its sustained campaign to degrade Tehran’s missile and military infrastructure.

War conditions have also significantly altered religious observances. Authorities restricted access to Jerusalem’s holy sites, including the Western Wall, where the traditional priestly blessing was held with only a small quorum instead of the usual tens of thousands.
