French President Emmanuel Macron Demands Immediate Ceasefire In Gaza

PARIS/JERUSALEM (Worthy News) – French President Emmanuel Macron demanded an immediate ceasefire in Gaza on Friday and said the situation in Gaza is “terrible.”

“Deep indignation at the images coming from Gaza where civilians have been targeted by Israeli soldiers,” he said, despite Israel denying these charges.

“I express my strongest condemnation of these shootings and call for truth, justice, and respect for international law,” Macron said in a post on the social platform X, formerly known as Twitter.

Israel’s military has vehemently denied wrongdoing, saying many Palestinians were crushed to death when storming aid trucks.

The Hamas-controlled Health Ministry said 112 Palestinians were killed when hungry crowds stormed aid trucks.

The comments by Macron came as the United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Thursday said “the killing” of over 100 people seeking humanitarian aid in Gaza required an effective independent investigation.

UN COUNCIL FAILURE

He spoke about the “failure” of a recent United Nations Security Council to have a resolution seeking a ceasefire.

Guterres complained that the worsening geopolitical divides have “transformed the veto power into an effective instrument of paralysis of the action of the Security Council.”

Guterres stressed he was “totally convinced that we need a humanitarian ceasefire and we need the unconditional and immediate release of hostages and that we should have a Security Council able to achieve these objectives.”

Guterres spoke in St. Vincent and the Grenadines ahead of a regional summit.

The Hamas-controlled Health Ministry says the latest deaths on Thursday added to a total of more than 30,000 Palestinians killed since Israel began its war against Hamas in Gaza.

Those figures have been difficult to verify. Israel says it responded to Hamas atrocities on October 7 in Israel that killed some 1,200 people and saw hundreds being kidnapped.
