Extensive Strikes Target Hezbollah in Southern Lebanon

(Worthy News) – The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Thursday that it conducted “extensive” overnight airstrikes on Hezbollah sites in southern Lebanon, targeting weapon depots, buildings used by the group, and a rocket launcher across 10 areas, signaling an escalation in the conflict.

The extensive airstrikes were a response to Hezbollah’s previous day’s barrage of 50 rockets on the northern town of Katzrin, which caused significant damage. Although the Iron Dome air defense system intercepted most of the projectiles fired by Hezbollah, several struck the town, heavily damaging homes and injuring a man in his 30s.

IDF Spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari clarified on Wednesday that the Hezbollah rocket barrage targeted the town of Katzrin, contradicting claims by the terrorist organization that they were aiming at a military base.

“Hezbollah launched some 50 rockets this morning at the center of the city of Katzrin. Once again, Hezbollah is firing indiscriminately at Israeli civilians,” Hagari stated on X. “Like any country that protects its citizens, we will act accordingly.”

During his visit to the Golan Heights town of Katzrin on Wednesday, Israeli National Security Minister Ben Gvir called for a stronger response to Hezbollah and greater control over handling the cross-border conflict in the north.

“One of the reasons I am so demanding to enter the limited cabinet is what is happening here now,” Gvir stated. “You also have to attack, you also have to make a campaign. This is the opportunity we must not miss.”

He emphasized, “The State of Israel needs to respond in the most unequivocal, clearest way.”

Earlier on Wednesday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Israel’s air force is prepared for both defensive and offensive actions.

“The Air Force is our iron fist that knows how to hit the soft underbelly of our enemies,” Netanyahu stated during his visit to the Ramat David Air Force base in the North.

“They prove it time and time again, and if we have to – we will prove it again and again,” he emphasized.

Since the Gaza war began in October, Hezbollah has bombarded northern Israeli communities almost daily with drones, rockets, and missiles. During this period, about 80,000 Israelis have evacuated from the north, with most spending the past 10 months in hotels elsewhere in Israel due to the relentless attacks.
