WASHINGTON/JERUSALEM (Worthy News) – The United States completed an eighth consecutive night of military strikes against Iran after an Iranian attack killed two American service members in Jordan and left another missing, U.S. Central Command said.
The latest operation began at approximately 6 p.m. Eastern Time on Saturday and continued for about five-and-a-half hours under the direction of President Donald Trump.
CENTCOM said the strikes were intended to punish Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces responsible for Friday’s ballistic missile and drone attack in Jordan while further weakening Tehran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
American aircraft struck Iranian coastal-surveillance and air-defense facilities, maritime capabilities, and missile and drone storage sites, according to the command. IRGC forces connected to the deadly attack on American personnel were also targeted, though CENTCOM did not immediately disclose the location or outcome of those specific strikes.
“More than 50,000 U.S. men and women in uniform are operating across the Middle East,” CENTCOM said, adding that they remain “highly vigilant, focused, lethal and ready.”
American Casualties in Jordan
The latest escalation followed an Iranian missile and drone assault against U.S. and allied forces in Jordan on Friday.
Two American service members were killed, while a third remained missing in action. Four additional troops were evacuated to local hospitals and later discharged, and others treated for minor injuries returned to duty, CENTCOM said.
The deaths marked a serious escalation in the widening confrontation between Washington and Tehran, which has increasingly drawn U.S. military installations and regional allies into direct Iranian attacks.
Iranian state media reported that American strikes hit areas near Sirik and Hajiabad in southern Iran, with explosions also heard around Bandar Abbas and Qeshm Island near the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz. Iranian authorities claimed there were no casualties or significant infrastructure damage near Sirik, though those assertions could not be independently confirmed.
State Department Warns Americans Worldwide
As the conflict expanded, the State Department issued a worldwide caution urging Americans abroad—particularly those in the Middle East—to exercise increased vigilance and follow instructions issued by the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate.
The department warned that flight cancellations and temporary airspace closures could disrupt travel. It also said Iranian-aligned groups could target American interests or locations associated with the United States outside the immediate conflict zone.
Americans in the region were encouraged to monitor breaking developments and remain alert to rapidly changing security conditions.
The State Department has maintained heightened travel warnings for several countries affected by the fighting. Its Jordan advisory cites the continuing danger of Iranian missile and drone attacks, while Iraq remains under a Level 4 “Do Not Travel” warning because of terrorism, kidnapping, armed conflict and limited U.S. capacity to provide emergency assistance.
The eighth night of strikes underscored Washington’s determination to answer attacks on American forces while continuing its broader campaign to dismantle Iran’s missile, drone and maritime warfare capabilities.
