Trump says Tehran has been “very badly damaged” as American forces tighten control over the Strait of Hormuz

WASHINGTON/JERUSALEM (Worthy News) – The United States unleashed another three-hour wave of strikes against Iranian military targets Sunday evening, marking the ninth consecutive night of American attacks as the Pentagon seeks to cripple Tehran’s ability to threaten international shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
U.S. Central Command said American forces struck Iranian military command centers, air-defense and coastal-surveillance installations, missile and drone launch sites, maritime assets and communications networks between 7 and 10 p.m.
“The strikes will continue degrading Iranian military capabilities used to attack commercial vessels and civilian mariners transiting the Strait of Hormuz,” CENTCOM said.
The latest campaign represents a widening effort to dismantle the Islamic regime’s ability to threaten one of the world’s most critical maritime corridors. U.S. forces have redirected six vessels and disabled another since Washington reinstated a naval blockade of Iranian ports on July 14, according to CENTCOM.
President Donald Trump said Sunday that Iran had again been struck “very hard,” describing the operation as retaliation for an Iranian attack against an American base in Jordan that killed two U.S. service members and left another missing.
“We did that in honor of the probably three—it’s probably three as opposed to two—great patriots,” Trump told reporters. “Those great patriots were out there fighting that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon.”
CENTCOM said military personnel had recovered unidentified remains from the Jordan base. An examination was underway to determine whether they belonged to the missing American service member. Subsequent reports Monday said the two confirmed fatalities had been identified, while the process of examining the recovered remains continued.
Trump said the sustained American campaign had devastated Iran’s military infrastructure.
“Iran has been very, very badly damaged,” the president said. “They’ve lost everything almost militarily; they’ve got very little left.”
“They’ve got some missiles. They’ve got some drones. They’ve got some manufacturing ability. Not much,” he continued. “We control the Strait. They don’t control anything, so we’ll see what happens.”
Israel Prepared to Reenter Conflict
As the United States intensified its strikes, Israel placed its military on heightened alert amid growing concerns that Tehran could broaden the conflict.
Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir said the military was closely monitoring developments in Iran and was prepared to “immediately resume combat.”
“We are closely monitoring developments in Iran and maintaining a high level of readiness,” Zamir said during a situational assessment with commanders of the IDF’s Judea and Samaria Division.
Zamir said Israel’s aerial-defense systems remained on alert following a launch toward the Aqaba region of southern Jordan.
“We are prepared to immediately resume combat and will act with great determination against anyone who harms us,” he said.
Israeli defense officials reportedly believe the possibility of further escalation with Iran has risen considerably. A senior Israeli official said the Jewish state was preparing operational responses for both immediate threats and a potentially prolonged confrontation.
Israel had already been preparing for scenarios in which Washington expanded its campaign or Iranian forces directly targeted the Jewish state, according to reporting based on Israeli Channel 12.
“If the Americans decide to escalate or involve Israel, or if the Iranians take action against us, we will be ready,” the official said.
The latest American strikes reportedly targeted the same categories of Iranian infrastructure identified by CENTCOM, including command facilities, air defenses, coastal surveillance systems, maritime assets and missile and drone launch sites.
