WASHINGTON D.C. (Worthy News) – U.S. President Donald Trump met privately with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House for nearly three hours Wednesday, with both leaders confirming that negotiations with Iran remain ongoing but no final agreement has been reached.
Following the closed-door meeting in the Cabinet Room, Trump wrote that while the relationship between the two nations remains “tremendous,” he insisted diplomacy must continue. “There was nothing definitive reached other than I insisted that negotiations with Iran continue to see whether or not a Deal can be consummated,” Trump posted, adding that a negotiated solution remains his preference.
At the same time, Trump reiterated that military options remain available if talks collapse. Referring to last year’s U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, he warned that Tehran’s refusal to compromise previously “did not work well for them,” signaling that further action could follow if diplomacy fails.
Pentagon Prepares Additional Carrier Deployment
Even as talks proceed, U.S. military posture in the region is intensifying. The Wall Street Journal reported that the Pentagon has ordered preparations for a second carrier strike group to deploy to the Middle East. Potential deployments include the USS George H.W. Bush, USS George Washington, or USS Gerald R. Ford, joining the already deployed USS Abraham Lincoln.
Satellite imagery this week showed additional U.S. air defense assets positioned at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, underscoring Washington’s readiness should tensions escalate.
Israel’s Red Lines
Netanyahu emphasized Israel’s security concerns, particularly regarding Iran’s uranium enrichment, ballistic missile program, and support for proxy terror groups. Israeli officials have warned against a narrow nuclear-only agreement that would leave Tehran’s missile capabilities intact.
Ahead of the meeting, Netanyahu said he intended to present “essential principles” not only for Israel’s security but for regional stability more broadly. Israeli officials close to the prime minister reportedly believe that Iran has shown little flexibility and may be using negotiations to buy time.
Iran Signals Defiance
Meanwhile, Iranian officials marked the 47th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution with mass rallies across the country, where demonstrators burned American and Israeli flags. Images circulated in Tehran reportedly displayed coffins bearing photographs of U.S. generals, including Adm. Brad Cooper of U.S. Central Command.
Iran has stated it is willing to discuss limits on its nuclear program in exchange for sanctions relief but has ruled out negotiations over its missile capabilities. Ali Shamkhani, an adviser to Iran’s supreme leader, declared Wednesday that the country’s missile program is “non-negotiable.”
Gaza and Regional Developments
In addition to Iran, the two leaders addressed the Gaza ceasefire framework and broader regional developments. Trump said “tremendous progress” is being made in Gaza and across the region, though significant gaps reportedly remain in implementing post-war stabilization measures.
This marked the seventh meeting between Trump and Netanyahu since the president returned to office. Despite heightened expectations, the session concluded without public statements or a joint press conference, signaling both caution and ongoing deliberation.
With diplomacy continuing but military assets mobilizing, Washington appears to be pursuing a dual-track strategy: pressing for a comprehensive deal that prevents Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons while preserving credible deterrence should negotiations fail.
